8th Wonder

Like many young men living in small town Lebanon, Samir has big dreams. He has aspirations of leaving to greener pastures. Samir makes the big plunge – emigration to the Promised Land, "The 8th Wonder" – Canada.

The first act takes place in Samir's home, in small town Lebanon. It is the night before the big trip. We get to meet his sister, mother, close friends as well as two loveable neighbors.

The second act takes place in "The 8th Wonder" – Canada. Samir has made new friends, new roommates and has adapted to the new cultural changes with surprising results.

Six years later Samir returns to his homeland with new friends and a whole lot of new culture.

The lines and stories in this play are a collection of true stories that happened to many of us.

Director's Notes

It has been ten wonderful years since Stars of Lebanon was created. We have since produced some of the most popular plays of our motherland. Our past productions have included "Summer of 840", "As for tomorrow, what?", "Good Times Inn", as well we have produced two major musical concerts as well as two Variety Shows featuring the works of Zaki Nassif and Ziad Rahbani.

The time has now come to bring the talents of this group of artists to the forefront. The 8^th Wonder was written, composed and created by members of the Stars of Lebanon Theatre Company. It is the first of what we hope of many more homegrown projects to come.

Your past support in previous performances, as well as your continued requests for the kind of project gave us the inspiration to bring to you the cross-cultural comedy "The 8th Wonder".
